The SEE Programme developed a capitalisation strategy that puts projects at the heart of the process. The aim is to strengthen the links between projects working on similar topics (“Thematic Poles”), to enable projects to exploit and consolidate one another’s achievements, and create a higher leverage effect. This will enhance the visibility and impact of both projects and Programme. A reinforced and more structured approach to valorise the SEE knowledge base will allow, moreover, to derive invaluable inputs and recommendations in view of the upcoming programming period.
The Thematic Pole coordinated by EASE&SEE's Lead Partner has been titled "Competitive SMEs Support Services".
With over 20 million SMEs in the EU representing 99% of businesses, they are key for economic growth, innovation, employment and social integration. The European Commission is clearly focused in its aims to promote successful entrepreneurship and the South East Europe Programme is supporting this in the region by addressing deficits with improved supporting structures and processes for SMEs. Projects on the programme include topics around SME financing; IPR; clusters/business parks; social enterprises; technology platforms; ICT support. With a wide range of complementary SME support measures necessary for a developed innovative SME sector there exists capitalization and synergy possibilities between projects but also other initiatives and programmes that project provider organizations are involved with.
